    Projects Done Using KENGA

    • Kabarole Research and Resource Centre (KRC): Developed an early warning conflict monitoring system which allows collection of data around different probable areas of conflict like Land Disputes, People movement, mobilization and many others using mobile phones. KRC staff initiate the data collection process by sending out an SMS question in connection to any suspected conflict outbreak to different KRC reporters (who are all around the region being monitored) who then send feedback to the system which gives an automated representation of these results on maps and graphs. The maps and graphs are analyzed by KRC staff to decide on whether to go ahead and investigate the suspected conflict outbreak or if it was a false alarm. If a decision to investigate the issue further is reached, the KRC staff members will collect more detailed data using a mobile data collection form which allows online and offline data collection. Information from the detailed investigation is analyzed to find all possible ways to avoid any conflict out breaks.
